About Tersa

Turning mine liabilities into supply chain assets.

Tersa Critical Minerals is a Vancouver-based cleantech company on a mission to solve mining's most persistent environmental problem, while securing the critical minerals the world needs for the energy transition.

01 / Our Story

Founded on a conviction, not a trend.

In 2021, Barinder Rasode and Stewart Muir asked a question no one had answered well: what if the acid rock drainage and tailings that have plagued mine sites for over a century weren't a liability, but a resource?

The world's energy transition demands copper, lithium, cobalt, and nickel at a scale that existing supply chains cannot meet. At the same time, thousands of mine sites across North America continue to generate acid rock drainage, contaminating waterways, generating perpetual treatment costs, and leaving behind a liability that outlasts the mining company itself.

Tersa was built to close that gap. Using proprietary Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC) and Microbially Induced Calcite Precipitation (MICP) technology, the TersaClean platform extracts critical minerals from acid rock drainage at 90%+ recovery rates, and converts the residual stream into clean water. No perpetual treatment. No waste.

We're not remediating mine sites. We're unlocking them.

02 / The Stakes

The energy transition runs on minerals the world hasn't secured yet.

Every electric vehicle requires up to 6× the minerals of a conventional car. Every offshore wind turbine demands tonnes of copper and rare earths. The IEA estimates demand for critical minerals will quadruple by 2040, but today's supply chains were built for a different world.

Mine waste is not the answer people expected. But it may be the fastest, cleanest, and most economical source of the minerals the transition demands.

03 / What we stand for

Built on principles that don't bend to market cycles.

01

Remediation first

We measure success by what we leave behind. Every Tersa deployment ends with clean water and a restored site, not a perpetual treatment contract.

02

Science, not aspiration

TersaClean is built on peer-reviewed microbiology and independently validated recovery rates. We publish the numbers.

03

Partnership by design

Critical minerals recovery touches the land, the water, and the communities that depend on them. We build every project with Indigenous and local partners from day one.

04

Supply chain sovereignty

The energy transition cannot be held hostage by geopolitical supply chains. Tersa exists to put critical mineral supply back in Western hands.

04 / Sustainability

ESG isn't a report. It's how we're built.

Tersa's technology was designed with environmental outcomes at its core, not as an afterthought. The TersaClean platform eliminates acid rock drainage, removes heavy metal contamination, and returns clean water to the watershed. Outcomes align with the most rigorous environmental frameworks.

We are committed to transparent reporting, Indigenous partnership protocols, and accountability to the communities and ecosystems we work within. Our governance structures reflect the same standards we hold our technology to.

Environmental

Clean water outcomes and zero-waste processing baked into every deployment.

Social

Indigenous and community partnership frameworks embedded from project inception.

Governance

Board-level oversight of all ESG commitments, with transparent public reporting.

Supply Chain Ethics

Western-sourced critical minerals, fully traceable, aligned with IRA and CRMA requirements.
